22 JUNE: A third of the world's jailed women are in the US. About two in three of these women are mothers and as many as one in ten are pregnant. Many prisons do not allow mothers to see their children in person, often only letting them speak over the phone or via video link. The Minnesota Prison Doula Project aims to help nurture healthy mother-child relationships by allowing face-to-face visits.
