Batman, Blockbuster, and Children: BATMAN RETURNS TURNS 25 YEARS OLD OHISTORYOFTHEBATMAN Good afternoon Gothamites and have a fantastic Friday! On this day (June 16) in Batman history, two live action Batman films had its world premiered and debuted in theaters in the U.S.! The first is the 1992 film "Batman Returns" which premiered 25 years ago at the @chinesetheatres in Hollywood (it hit U.S. theaters June 19)! The commercial success of Tim Burton's 1989 film 'Batman' spawned a sequel live action movie in 1992. Michael Keaton's Bruce Wayne - Batman reprises his role in "Batman Returns", going up against the corrupt business tycoon Max Shreck (Christopher Walken) who joins Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin (Danny DeVito) in order to take over Gotham City and defeat the Batman. But when Shreck's ex-assistant Selina Kyle (Michelle Pfeiffer) transforms into the seductive Catwoman, Batman has to also combat his romantic feelings for the femme fatale. Known for its dramatics from the set design to the costumes, "Batman Returns" was darker than its predecessor, the gothic tone courtesy of Batman co-creator Bob Kane as creative consultant, calling back to his character's origin from 1939. Tim Burton's 1992 sequel film "Batman Returns" was a blockbuster success. However, due to the dark tones of the film, it was not accepted by parents of young children and some sponsorship was turned down in terms of toys and merchandising. Warner Bros. then turned to producer and director Joel Schumacher to continue the Batman franchise with a lighter theme, his first Bat movie being our other anniversary we will celebrate today on History of the Batman, so stay tuned and thanks for following! ✌🏼💙🦇🎬🎉

(There was.) _ Singer and all-around goddess Céline Dion kicked off the anniversary festivities last night with a show-stopping live performance of the iconic song that m̶a̶k̶e̶s̶ ̶K̶a̶t̶e̶ ̶W̶i̶n̶s̶l̶e̶t̶ ̶w̶a̶n̶t̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶v̶o̶m̶i̶t̶ launched her career at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards. Yes, that song is "My Heart Will Go On," and yes, you will need tissues. Not only does Dion sound incredible, but that vocal run at the end killed me and brought me back to life. (Unlike Jack. Sob.) _ Released in 1997, Titanic became the highest-grossing movie of all time, a record that was only defeated by director James Cameron's other visual masterpiece, Avatar. Meanwhile, "My Heart Will Go On" spent 16 weeks at the top of the Billboard 200, won Dion the Oscar for Best Original Song, and earned the Canadian songstress four Grammys. _ Here's hoping Dion releases this special anniversary version of the song at some point because nothing screams "Song of the Summer" like a sweeping, emotional ballad about lost love! _ by Crystal Bell
