My greatest hope for this project is to educate and raise awareness of what it means to be separated from your family due to issues that could've easily been avoided if we just had an opportunity in the U.S or access to healthcare. It will also touch upon the subject of how the Mexican government is not helping deportees-returnees. On April 2017, my younger brother Voluntary Departure to Mexico, after months detained and mistreated by the Agents of Adelanto Detention Center. My parents joined him on June 2017, making me the only member of my family in the United States. I was approved for Advance Parole only a week before DACA was rescinded, and Advance Parole terminated for the recipients. I will perhaps be one of the last DACA recipients to travel with AP. I need the help of my community and allies to be successful, I am want this project to be a community effort, because this is the story of many of us and our family members. This will be a project led by undocumented youth-POC for the world." Donate: bit.ly-SupportKarla

Arguing, Drugs, and Lawyer: Lawyer Says Body Cam Footage Show:s LAPD Officer Planting Cocaine on Black Suspect @balleralert BREAKING NEWS NE 5159 62 O2 BREAKING NEWS CBS2 EXCLUSIVE Lawyer Says Body Cam Footage Shows LAPD Officer Planting Cocaine on Black Suspect – blogged by @MsJennyb ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On Thursday, body cam footage of an April hit-and-run incident in Los Angeles was released, catapulting the department into an internal investigation on the use of the cameras. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In the footage obtained by CBS-LA, an LAPD officer is allegedly shown planting drugs inside a black suspect’s wallet. The media outlet retrieved 12 total videos, all worn by the officers that were on the scene when 52-year-old RonaldShields was arrested and charged with felony hit-and-run and cocaine possession. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ At the time, officers reported that a small bag of cocaine was found in Shield’s shirt, however, upon the release of the bodycam footage on Thursday, new information has been unveiled to the public. Shields’ lawyer says the video shows an officer picking up the cocaine off the ground and putting it in Shields’ wallet, which was caught on his own bodycam. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to reports, the cameras begin recording 30 seconds before being turned on, but it appears the officer, who has been identified as Officer Gaxiola, had no idea about the device’s design. Which explains why he allegedly turns the camera on after planting the drugs in the suspect’s wallet. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ However, despite the video, another officer told the judge that he found the cocaine in Shields’ pocket, prompting Shields’ lawyer to argue that the drugs were planted, as allegedly seen in the video, he is reportedly asking for the evidence to be suppressed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In turn, the LAPD released a statement saying, “The LAPD takes all allegations of misconduct seriously and as in all cases, will conduct a thorough investigation to determine whether the alleged actions are supported by reliable evidence.”
