America, Animals, and Beyonce: Being Unapologetically Black In America @balleralert Being Unapologetically Black In America - blogged by: @asimplebijou ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ More and more in today's society, we see race becoming a constant topic of conversation in America. With powerful movements such as BlackLivesMatter, Thisiswhywekneel, and many more, race is being brought to the forefront of the oppressor, similar to the way it was many years ago. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Black artists, directors, activists, actors, actresses, etc. have all utilized their platforms to shed light on the racism that still exists in our nation. Issa Rae, Beyonce, Colin Kaepernick, Kendrick Lamar, and Jesse Williams, have all openly spoke about the struggles we face as black people, while still encouraging us to be unapologetic about it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ To be unapologetically black is to own that sh*t and be proud of it. You have nothing to be embarrassed nor apologetic about. While majority of us were taught to not speak about the discriminatory encounters we face, we can not be silent anymore. We can not let the hatred of others deter us from being proud. We must hold our head high and let them know our black asses has nothing to be ashamed about. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The same oppressors who embded in us that we should be ashamed and embarrassed, are the same ones who regularly appropriate our culture. Stealing our sh*t and not crediting us. They belittle and portray us as nothing but barbaric animals, yet ignore the reality that we are the curators and cultivators of American culture. Be proud and remove those negative stigmas because your blackness is a trait desired by even the fairest of them all. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ From every variation of our melanin skin, to our full lips, wide hips, broad noses, hairstyles, big butts, be the unapologetic nubian king and queen you are with zero f**ks about who you are envied upon. All Lives Matter, Arguing, and Black Lives Matter: *me on a first date* So black lives matter or all lives matter? ☝🏾☝🏽☝🏼☝🏿 Repost from our friend @thewayofwilson: "If you really know me... You know I would say this✊🏾✊🏾 BlackLivesMatter To be honest, the fact that Black people had to create an entire movement to acknowledge that their humanity MATTERS is troubling and extremely disheartening. BlackLivesMatter is not stating that anybody's lives matter less or that Black lives matter more, it's truly just recognizing that in the society we live in, Black people are often seen as less than human (for a multitude of reasons) and thus treated inhumanely. Additionally, for people who say "all lives matter" as a response to BlackLivesMatter... Do you respond that way at a Breast Cancer event? Do you say "all cancers matter" or do you recognize that this event is highlighting Breast Cancer? How about at an event focused on the issue of Economic Oppression, do you say "all oppression matters" or do you recognize that this event is highlighting Economic Oppression? It's unbelievable that when Black people want to acknowledge the fact that their lives have VALUE, people truly feel the need to argue and invalidate that fact." A Dream, Bad, and Blade: she took the midnight train going anywhere NEW YORKERS KEEP NEW YORK SAFE I just had a dream that could totally be the plot of the next big horror movie...it was this little boy and his father living in my old house and the boy had no idea who his mother was but as he started to get older this black figure-mass started appearing to him telling him it was his mother and it would plant bad ideas in his mind and the boy and his father were part of some religion that seemed kind of like a cult and one day after the black mass visited the boy while he was in his garage a glowing woman appeared to him and she was like the goddess of whatever religion they were part of and she was telling him that she could see the inside of his mind and could see the terrible thoughts he was having and she was extremely disappointed in him and that as the goddess of the religion, she was his mother and he didn't need to worry about that question (but the goddess wasn't aware of the black mass appearing to him) but the goddess disappeared when the boy's father quietly entered the garage (the boy was hiding and was unaware) and he was being followed by his neighbor who was also part of the religion and they were arguing and eventually started fighting and the father ended up the the ground and another angry neighbor showed up and started puncturing the fathers thigh repeatedly with this semicircular stamp blade and the boy knew something was going on so he came out of hiding and the neighbors ran away and he saw his father on the ground and bleeding ad got scared and angry and started to (unintentionally or not, I am unsure) summon the black figure who claimed to be his mother who, if unleashed, would most definitely wreak havoc everywhere...then I woke up
