San Francisco 49ers, Basketball, and Cleveland Cavaliers: LeBron James Says Colin Kaepernick ls Being Blackballed Out Of the NFL @balleralert zar LeBron James Says Colin Kaepernick Is Being Blackballed Out Of the NFL– blogged by @MsJennyb ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On Sunday, Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBronJames showed his support for ColinKaepernick and his fight for social justice. The baller, who has been deemed the “greatest basketball player on the planet,” agreed with the notion that league owners are blackballing the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “I love football, but I’m not part of the NFL. I don’t represent the NFL,” James said, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN. “I don’t know their rules and regulations. But I do know Kap is getting a wrongdoing, I do know that. Just watching, he’s an NFL player. He’s an NFL player and you see all these other quarterbacks out there and players out there that get all these second and third chances that are nowhere near as talented as him. It just feels like he’s been blackballed out of the NFL. So, I definitely do not respect that.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to Bleacher Report, since Kaepernick opted out of his contract with the Niners earlier this year, 42 other quarterbacks have signed contracts. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “The only reason I could say he’s not on a team is because the way he took a knee. That’s the only reason,” James said of Kaepernick’s protest of police brutality during the national anthem. The movement began during the 2016 NFL preseason and has since expanded throughout different sports and continued through the 2017-18 season, despite Kaepernick’s unemployment. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “I watch football every Sunday, every Thursday, every Monday night. I see all these quarterbacks – first-string, second –team, third-team quarterbacks-that play sometimes when the starter gets hurt or are starters that play. Kap is better than a lot of those guys. Let’s just be honest.”

San Francisco 49ers, America, and Apparently: People Are Mad About Colin Kapernick Being Named GQ's "Citizen of the Year" L. @balleralert People Are Mad About Colin Kapernick Being Named GQ’s “Citizen of the Year” – blogged by @MsJennyb ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Just hours after GQ announced that ColinKaepernick would be recognized as one the magazine’s “Men of the Year,” specifically coined this year’s “Citizen of the Year,” the Twitterverse nearly drowned in whitetears. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Many took to the social media platform to express their disapproval with GQ’s decision to feature the former 49ers quarterback. Others even called for a boycott of the magazine, using the hashtag BoycottGQ. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “I guess it’s time to BoycottGQ since @GQMagazine named Colin Kaepernick “Citizen of the Year.” A divisive, anti-American, Racist jackass that single-handedly destroyed the @NFL isn’t a citizen, he’s a traitor,” Twitter user Hans Auf wrote. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Last year, Kaepernick led the league in a protest against police brutality and racial injustices by kneeling during the national anthem. His movement sparked a widespread discussion about the former quarterback’s purpose, his subsequent extended unemployment and the league’s handling of the protests. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “ BoycottGQ magazine…how dumb can you get GQ? Colin is a whiny rich spoiled crybaby and hates America. DO YOU hate America too GQ? Apparently,” Cup of Covfefe & Me wrote. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “Seems GQ magazine has awarded @Kaepernick7 “Man of the Year” award. In doing so, they agree that it is perfectly fine to insult our nation’s flag, national anthem and our nation’s heroes,” Adorable Deplorable tweeted. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ However, others were pleased with GQ’s decision. In fact, many praised the magazine for recognizing such a courageous man, who risked his career to make a difference in the world.

Sources tell the publication that the meeting will take place sometime next week, to continue the discussion about league’s involvement in social activism. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Although Kaepernick was invited to the first meeting, he declined in fear that the NFL would be opposed to his attendance. This time, however, the league says it looks forward to the conversation, as several players have said Kaepernick is important to their efforts against racial inequality. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ While the league’s national anthem policy remains the same, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has expressed that he would prefer players to stand during the anthem. But, it is still not required.

I don't care if they lived in America or Africa or China or India - they knew about Muhammad Ali and they saw him take his stances against injustice and whether they liked him or hated him, he started a conversation. When Colin Kaepernick took a stand, he was sidelined. Maligned. The overlords tried to end his career and shut him the fuck up. In March, Donald Trump - the most powerful man in the world by a wide margin - said that no team will sign him because they don't want to get a nasty tweet from him if they do. But then the unthinkable happened. Other NFL players started saying "enough is enough - there is injustice in our society and we need to address it". He started a movement. Dozens of players are now taking a stand. Michael Bennett is drawing attention to profiling. These are players who were told explicitly not to ever take a stand, and now they're participating in a debate. It's just talking! The best ideas will win! But before Kaep, you couldn't chime in without being penalized - badly - professionally - that's over. Kaep took a risk and sacrificed everything and, in doing so, changed everything. And for all of u who are gonna pop off saying Kaep is racist...bear in mind that his adoptive parents Rick and Teresa are a rural white couple from Wisconsin and cheer him on at all his games and love him and support him in his mission so good luck with that!
