Croatian: 1502 WORLD NEWS PUSSY RIOT PROTESTS July 16 Members of the Russian protest-art group, Pussy Riot, charged the field during the World Cup final on Sunday while dressed in Russian-police uniforms Four members of the Russian protest-art group, Pussy Riot, charged the stadium at Sunday’s World Cup match wearing Russian-police uniforms. Russian authorities have charged the three women and one man for disrupting the World Cup and wearing police uniforms illegally. The two offenses carry maximum fines of 10,000 roubles ($161 USD) and 1,500 roubles ($24.09 USD). ___ The protest group said it was demonstrating against the abuse of human rights in Russia. The group released a statement saying the intention of their protest was to make Russian authorities: _ Free all political prisoners. - Stop jailing people for social-media “likes.” - Stop illegal arrests at protests. - Allow political competition. - Stop fabricating criminal cases and putting people in jail for no reason. - Turn the earthly policeman into a Heavenly Policeman. ___ The four Pussy Riot members came on the field during the second half of the Croatia v France match (52 minutes into the match), and lasted on the field for about 25 seconds. ___ One of the protesters engaged with French soccer player Kylian Mbappé on the field, giving him a high-five before being taken away. The male protester was grabbed by Croatian defender Dejan Lovren. ___ The three women protesters were identified as Nika Nikulshina, Olga Kurachyova and Olga Pakhtusova.
