1991. Effigy of the Forgotten is the debut album by band Suffocation, released in October 22. The cover artwork was created by Dan Seagrave.Suffocation was formed in 1988 on Long Island, New York, by vocalist Frank Mullen, bassist Josh Barohn, guitarists Guy Marchais and Todd German, and Barohn’s friend on drums.The album was dedicated to the memory of Atheist bassist Roger Patterson, who had been killed in a car crash earlier in 1991.Effigy of the Forgotten is considered to be one of the first death metal albums to have a highly sophisticated level of technical proficiency. The guitars are very low-end and down tuned whilst using a lot of tremolo picking and fast alternate picked notes alongside a lot of fast blast beats drumming and quick fills involved. It’s all very violent,  Some passages are oddly catchy and most of the solos are awesome. The slam on the album’s opener is famous for being the first slam in death metal history, and it’s one of the best at it. In fact, the whole song serves as the sole highlight to this album.  chapters longer? Also, it's been so long since your last update that I
 had to go back and re-read the previous chapter just to know what was
 going on. It would be great if you could give us more regular updates so we

Writing is a process that often undergoes heavy edits… that includes responding to feedback. 
I had no idea this post would resonate with so many people. I let my vitriol surrounding several comments I received on a recent update get to me and it spilled out into .gif form and it’s now morphed into the most widely shared thing I’ve ever posted. So many comments and tags have said things along the lines of, “This was why I quit writing” or “This is why I hate writing fanfic.” And that’s soul crushing to hear, but I can relate. 
But while there are some crappy and entitled readers, there are also many brilliant ones and I’m so grateful for them. The huge response to this post made me go back and skim through the comments on my old stories, and comments like the one below are about half the reason some of those stories got finished, even if it was months later. 
Comments like these are so rare, but when they do come up, they leave me staring at my computer screen, drumming my fingers on the keyboard, struggling to convey my feelings about how their words have touched my heart. These are the comments that take the longest amount of time to respond to and the ones that cause me to wear out my backspace key the fastest. 
It’s easy to complain, but it’s literally just as easy to praise, so I just wanted to take a moment to recognize all those dear and dedicated readers who have propped me up when I wanted to quit. Readers like you are why I keep writing, and why I even feel honored to do it on rare occasion. 
And fellow writers, keep your heads up if you can. :) 

I know I reblogged this before with the first part but the added content is perfect so I’m reblogging again. To those who have left me these kind of comments, even if I wasn’t mentally able to respond at the time, please know how much they mean to me. I have them saved so I can go back and read them when I’m down. The first week numbers are in from Harry Styles's debut solo, self-titled album, and they're beyond brilliant: They're historic. This comes as no surprise whatsoever given the frenzy the “Sign of the Times” singer was able to drum up in the weeks leading up to its release, but still — YAAAAAY HARRY. _ Styles sold 230,000 units, with a solid 193,000 of those going to straight-up traditional album sales. Billboard reports that this massive achievement not only makes Harry Styles the No. 1 album in the country, but also the album to top for a male artist from the United Kingdom, as it blew past the benchmark established by Sam Smith's In the Lonely Hour, which previously held that record with the 166,000 copies it moved upon its release in 2014. _ Just let that sink in for a sec: Styles now has the best debut album performance of any male artist hailing from the U.K. since Nielsen started keeping tabs on sales in 1991. That's huge, considering the nearly three decades of incredible music that's come out of Britain since then, but yeah — Styles is now king of that metaphorical castle. _ Another notable feat for Styles: He's the second male artist from the U.K. to debut at No. 1, and the first artist to do that is a former bandmate of his. Zayn Malik's Mind of Mine became the first album by a U.K.-hailing male artist to premiere in the top spot on the Billboard 200, and Styles followed that up a year later. In short: The One Direction dudes are thriving in their solo careers, and this is pretty undeniable proof of that. _ All of this not 48 hours after he joined Stevie Nicks (!!!) onstage at an L.A. concert and wrapped a week of performing for his takeover of the The Late Late Show with James Corden.
