It takes the shoulder joint through a full circumduction motion and will help you build and maintain excellent shoulder mobility, making it one of my โ˜ top recommendations for anyone sitting at a desk all day as it opens up the thoracic spine and pecs, helping get you out of that kyphotic, rounded shoulders posture. And the best part is, you can do it right at ๐Ÿ  home or in the gym with a broomstick, PVC pipe, or band. . I like to warm up the tissues by doing 15 reps of ๐Ÿ™‹ one arm up and over at a time and then repeat in the other direction. Then go into the full dislocate where you move ๐Ÿ™† both arms back and forth. . If you have really tight shoulders, you'll need to start out at the widest grip length or use the band. As your shoulders open up, you can start a bring the hands in. Make sure to keep the ribs โคต down so that you create motion only at the shoulder and don't hyperextend the lumbar spine. . And the wider you go, the harder it can be to achieve an optimal depth. This is because as you go wide, a muscle called the ADDUCTOR MAGNUS comes onto stretch.โ†”๏ธ . The adductor magnus attaches from the pelvis and inserts onto the back-inside of the femur. It adducts and extends the hip, so going into a wide squat, where the hip is abducted and flexed, places it onto stretch. This is one possible reason why you may get a butt wink in the bottom of the squat as the pelvis gets pulled under.โ†ช . So in order to create more mobility and integrate it into our positions, we're going to use some isometric holds. . ๐Ÿ”ธ๏ธSit back into the wall and open the hips as wide as possible.
