Some parents really donā€™t understand the difference between actual discipline and hurting your kids.

This teaches a kid nothing except needing to hide what makes them happy because theyā€™re scared their parents will destroy it.




Wowā€¦what a terrible parent. Minecraft is A LOT of work, diligence, and creativity. The parent should have been encouraging that. And why does a 9 year old need to wake up every day at 7 am during a pandemic? Whatā€™s wrong with this person? 
I can foresee an estranged relationship in the future. Because this parent is out of their minds and more interested in exacting punitive control than being a loving caregiver.

This is the second time this week Iā€™ve seen a story like this (the first being the boyfriend destroying his girlfriendā€™s AC island over an argument) and it makes me think ā€“ how is this ANY different to someone destroying a physical piece of art someoneā€™s made: ripping up their sketchbook, breaking ceramics, cutting up cosplays? If this person had come forward with a question likeĀ ā€œmy son wouldnā€™t get out of bed so I broke the birdbox he madeā€ there wouldnā€™t be ANY question whether this was abusive behaviour.
Thereā€™s an inherent disconnect with how we talk about theĀ ā€œvalueā€ of virtual items/creations in video games: something about the way that these things arenā€™t tangible in the conventional sense makes them somehow less valuable than something everyone can hold and observe and appreciate. Think about the amount of ā€œfunny gamer rageā€ videos out there that are people upset over losing WoW saves and the likes: game saves are often things people have put hundreds of hours into, they have value to that person and are representative of their own dedication. Hell, Iā€™m really bummed at the moment over not having access to some of my BL2 saves (I canā€™t travel to get my PS4 from uni), and I know Iā€™d be upset if I lost them forever.Ā 
Video games are a massive escape mechanism for a lot of people especially right now, and putting time and effort into particularly building games is a constructive and creative outlet that gives people a feeling of accomplishment (and letā€™s be real itā€™s a lot more practical than having a house full of lego). Yet thereā€™s still this weird stigma attached to them, thisĀ ā€œitā€™s just a gameā€ mentality that leads people to be easily dismissive of othersā€™ feelings over losing progress. Destroyed your girlfriendā€™s AC island, which she put hundreds of hours into building? Whatever, itā€™s just a game. Deleted your kidā€™s minecraft file, which he spent an entire year working on? Whatever, itā€™s just a game, why are you so mad? Itā€™s not a real thing, itā€™s just some numbers hiding behind fancy computer graphics!

Their wishes were clear, but what harm could *one* biscuit possibly do? What kind of barbaric monster would force their sweet dog to wear a sign around her neck prohibiting treats? How could I possibly be expected to withhold her daily Milk Bone? What had she done to deserve such barbaric treatment? And how many biscuits could I sneak to her without getting busted?Fortunately, my questions were soon answered by the arrival of her owner who graciously explained the reason for this seemingly abusive act. It turns out that the vineyard had been hosting their annual fall wine tasting all week long, and was providing the guests with salami, prosciutto, breads, and various types of gourmet cheeses to be paired with the wines. And in her role as official tasting room mascot, Maggie was allowed to circulate freely amongst the guests, who of course were rendered as powerless as I by her beseeching gaze. The result of their copious offerings of such rich meats and sharp cheeses upon her digestive system are best left to the imagination, and her humans were left with no alternative but to take drastic action in order to prevent Miss Maggie the Manipulative and Malodorous Moocher from rendering the tasting room uninhabitable.Fortunately for her, however, the feeding ban did NOT apply to ordinary dog biscuits, thus leaving me free to be the hero and ease her pangs of hunger on what turned out to be Quadruple Biscuit Friday. The Truth: The biological sex you know is only trulyĀ representative of gender stereotypes. The truth is that, biologically speaking, there are more than two sexes and the only true way to identify such is throughĀ karyotypes. Third genders and nonbinary genders have existed through out history, it is not new. The greatest minds in science have time and time again repeated this information, that sex isnā€™t a binary, that nonbinary people exist, that trans women are really women, trans men are men, and that nonbinary people are nonbinary. Even Bill Nye has said this.
Claim: Things likeĀ ā€œstargenderā€ orĀ ā€œnoungenderā€ are ruining the representation of the trans community. /Ā ā€œNoungenderā€ is just children trying to get attention and are not actually trans. / People using neopronouns or nounself pronouns are not really trans.
The Truth: This in inaccurate and often times either a bullying tactic towards those who are different, or transphobic people using such to isolate a group of trans people. Some people do not fit into the binary or gender nor feel like theyā€™re in any defined nonbinary genders. So theyā€™ll define themselves with words and terms they enjoy. Itā€™s no different from you feeling more comfort from being calledĀ ā€œheā€ versusĀ ā€œshe.ā€Ā

The Truth: This in inaccurate and often times either a bullying tactic towards those who are different, or transphobic people using such to isolate a group of trans people.  walking briskly to running. Her gait was peculiar, because

 often, trying to see if I am still following.

 I know it is kind of low-level behaviour. But I do enjoy
 doing that. I go to another city, look for a girl that is

 they notice you. After dark, after sunset it may suffice to

 I recommend you lonely incels try it some time. Just to

Something I remember from my Criminal Law classes is that, quite genuinely, looking at someone (occasionally even pointedly not doing so) can constitute assault.
It seems absurd, looking at someone? Whereā€™s the harm, right?
Well, it turns out itā€™s so that the law has recourse against people who just stand in a public space and start through someoneā€™s living room window. For weeks.
Just randomly chasing somebody, even without intent to actually harm, is legally assault. Itā€™s not harmless, itā€™s months or even years of therapy and paranoia against ever going outside your home, if you even think your home is still safe.

Important things to keep in mind!
- never take from ā€˜mom and popā€™ type store. Its likely youā€™ll actually harm them, whereas taking from a walmart wont effect much.
- never take items that a worker is assigned to monitor (usually super expensive items), theyll be in trouble for it. and its usually a minimum wage worker and usually they lose hours or pay, or they even get fired.
- similar to the above, never take things that are usually locked up for the above reason
- if its a store you know gives their near-expiration products to workers/charity, try to avoid taking the near expiration products.
- if youre taking clothing, avoid leaving hangers. it sounds weird, but itll make it seem like it was more likely an error in the computer than a theft, since the empty hanger sitting there will seem suspicious.Ā 
- also for clothing, try not to take more than one item at once, as it will look suspicious if theres 10 medium shirts missing, and it wonā€™t be written off as just a stocking error. and it will lead to workers being penalized
- basically just always consider ā€˜will this harm a workerā€™ and if the answer is yes then dont do it
like i was homeless for a while when i was younger and i tried to follow those guidelines to avoid doing harm to people who were probably not much better off than me while trying to get food for myself.

itā€™s a thing. I wonā€™t even lie. I watched someone slip a nursing exam book in their bag at the store I worked at. She made eye contact with me and the blood drained from her face. I simply gave her a sympathetic nod and walked away.
I live in a small town and I knew she was a waitress at a hotel my sister works at, and people at that hotel donā€™t tip well during off season. Nursing exam books are 50+ bucks. Being a med student myself, I didnā€™t even breathe a word, and when inventory came up later and the book was missing, I suggested it was likely a mislabel, and the manager wrote it off.
Sometimes, thievery is a necessity. Donā€™t send people to jail over petty things.

Over 75% of people lie on social mediaĀ ā€¼ļø
The truth is that people tend to lie on social networks. How? First, people directly lie about their lives, which is often an effort to make themselves look more desirable or positive. In a study examining 80 online daters, Hancock, Toma, and Ellison found that two thirds of participants lied about their weight by five pounds or more. In a large sample of over 2000 people in England conducted by Custard.com, 43 percent of men admitted to making up facts about themselves and their lives that were not true online.
Even more commonly, people ā€œlieā€ by presenting an image of themselves and their lives that is imprecise or less than comprehensive, leading the viewer to believe falsehoods. For example, in the Custard.com study, only 18 percent of men and 19 percent of women reported that their Facebook page displayed ā€œa completely accurate reflectionā€ of who they are. Most commonly, participants said that they only shared ā€œnon-boringā€ aspects of their lives (32 percent) and were not as ā€œactiveā€ as their social media accounts appeared (14 percent). 
Indeed, a growing body of research suggests that social media use can negatively affect your psychological health, particularly if you compare yourself to the positive images you see online. In a study of 339 college women (Puglia, 2017), the tendency to compare oneself to others was associated with poorer body esteem. Furthermore, in a sub-sample of 58 women in the Puglia study, those with higher levels of Facebook usage displayed lower body satisfaction than those with lower Facebook usage. Similarly, in an experimental study by Vogel and colleagues, participants who tended to compare themselves to others more regularly had lower self-esteem, more negative emotions, and a poorer view of themselves after using Facebook than participants who did not tend to compare themselves to others.Ā 
Consequently, when engaging with social media, it is critical to remind yourself that what you see is not an accurate picture of reality. Donā€™t compare yourself to the images of friends, colleagues, or celebrities. Remind yourself that it is just a snapshot of their lifeā€”and one that they want you to see.

Because this is, for whatever reason being discussed again in the tags, hereā€™s just another reminder to everyone, and especially to my fellow survivors who see themselves in Jasper:

SU has /never/ been ambiguous regarding who was in control of malachite. It was undoubtedly Lapis up until SWI, and even then you could say she and Jasper were working together to fight the CGs. Abuse by definition NEEDS to have a power imbalance between the victim and abuser. Jasper was never allowed that power, while Lapis is always described as the one who was in control, therefore Lapis was the abuser and Jasper was the victim.

Victims arenā€™t always good people. Jasper is very much a victim of circumstance, both from the war and from Malachite. Yes, sheā€™s abusive, but towards the corrupted gems, and has yet to be given a chance to unlearn her toxic behaviors. Sheā€™s a messy victim, sheā€™s aggressive and angry, and there are so many survivors who act like this; and guess what, theyā€™re still victims. Having ā€œuglyā€ symptoms and feeling affection for your abuser does NOT make you the abuser of the relationship. It doesnā€™t undermine your abuse and certainly doesnā€™t justify it, no matter what vitriol this fandom tries to spew at you because you see Jasper as the victim.

Abusers arenā€™t always going to be your enemy. They arenā€™t always going to be bigger than you, or physically stronger. They can be friends or family or ā€œbeach summer fun buddiesā€. They can be nice sometimes and absolutely terrible other times. And they can also have traumas of their own. This doesnā€™t change or excuse the fact that theyā€™re abusive. Lapis is this kind of abuser. She was the one holding the chains, the one who acknowledges her own power (and fears being placed in positions of control because of it), and the one who regrets her decisions and is trying to stop being abusive. 

Frankly I donā€™t care about protagonist centered morality enough to even consider Stevenā€™s point of view regarding Malachite. I donā€™t care what the CGs in the show have to say about the situation because regardless of how much of a ā€œterribleā€ person Jasper is, itā€™s presented clearly to us who was the one being held in chains against their will. I also cannot be bothered to care about your definitions of ā€œlashing outā€ or, ā€œself-blamingā€. Lapis made her intentions painfully clear that this was for revenge and wanting to take out everything on someone. She doesnā€™t love the earth nor does she want to play nice with the CGs. So donā€™t even try to tell me this because Iā€™m frankly just /tired/ of being reminded that you people donā€™t actually care about victims if our behaviors or coping mechanisms are ā€œwrongā€ to you. 

Also, of the 2 years that Iā€™ve been involved in this hell fandom Iā€™ve yet to see Jasper fans attack the inboxes or posts of Lapis fans to the same extent that the reverse has been done. Jasper fans donā€™t spread ugly rumors about Rebecca Sugarā€™s abuse history either, so itā€™s pretty ironic that WEā€™RE the ones who condone abuse isnā€™t it?

tl;dr: Youā€™re honestly disgusting if youā€™ve EVER tried to make a victim feel bad for liking Jasper, and I sincerely hope you grow up some day and learn that itā€™s not worth it to harm real people and survivors for the sake of a cartoon. And if youā€™re a victim who relates to Jasper, believe me when I say you arenā€™t alone and you arenā€™t a bad person.
