Ali, America, and Family: SOME PEOPLE'S VERSION OF A HERO MY VERSION OF A HERO Dear America, Let me tell you another story..... A story that mainstream media will never tell you..... One of the people seem here was just awarded the Muhammad Ali Sports Illustrated Legacy Award .......One was is forgotten about regularly. One of these Men Made Millions to play a game....One barely makes enough to provide for their family. One of these Men started a movement that in my opinion blatantly disrespected the blood, sweat, and sacrifice of 1.3M Veterans......One puts their very life on the line to save others EVERY DAY! One talks about Unity and Equality, yet a year later has done nothing but divide us.......One shows us what True Love and selflessness for Others actually looks like. One has Millions of followers.......One you will probably never even know their name. One Represents the best our country has to offer.....One has forgotten the only reason he was able to make millions playing a GAME in the first place. One takes advantage of the life they have.....one simply does their job every single day! While the rest of the world focuses on what’s trending-popular no matter how blatantly disrespectful and continues to show that our society is twisted and we embrace-push backwards logic of respect and misguided symbols for our younger generation. I want to take a moment and say thank you to the men and women currently fighting the wildfire tragedies in California......You are what is right and honorable within the country and it's time we start to recognize the best of us instead of the ones that drag us down. Wake up America......REAL HEROES ARE ALL AROUND YOU!! You just have to know where to look! -Graham🇺🇸 USA Freedom 2a hero

Barbershop, God, and Homeless: Man Who Gives Free Haircuts to the Homeless Gets Free Barbershop From Stranger @balleralert lia I O S T Man Who Gives Free Haircuts to the Homeless Gets Free Barbershop From Stranger - Blogged by: @RaquelHarrisTV ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The Philadelphia man that dedicated last year to give the homeless free haircuts is now being compensated for his kindness. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As the holidays are quickly approaching, BrennonJones thought he wouldn't have a way to give the homeless free haircuts this year. However, a stranger who heard of Jones' good deeds wanted to help. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ That stranger was barbershop owner, Sean Johnson. “When I found out, [I thought] ‘Well I need to be a part of that,” Johnson told Fox 29. “‘I need to see what I can do to help.'” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The gift kept on giving. Johnson ended up giving his fully renovated barbershop to Jones so he could continue his honorable acts. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “[Johnson] said, ‘Listen, I’ve got a building I want you to come check out,'” Jones said. “He said, ‘Do you like this place?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I like it.’ He tossed me the key and said, ‘It’s yours.'” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Both men share big hearts, Johnson says what he did was bigger than him. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “It wasn’t about me giving a barbershop,” he said. “When you look at the homeless and the things that they need, I looked at it as more. I built something and I want to see it keep going and I want to see it do a great thing.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Jones’ new barbershop is set to open in November with specific days dedicated to serving the homeless. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "I just continue to rely on my faith. God brought me this far, I know he’s not gonna leave me now," said Jones.

America, Children, and Memes: Los Angeles Votes to End Columbus Day and Replace with Indigenous People Day @balleralert Los Angeles Votes to End Columbus Day and Replace with Indigenous People Day-blogged by @thereal__bee ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ The votes are in and LosAngeles is officially planning to no longer honor Christopher Columbus’ day as a holiday. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ The city council voted to no longer celebrate Columbus Day, a tribute to the man who allegedly discovered North America, and instead will pay homage to the people who already lived in America. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ The work to rename the holiday began in 2015, when Councilman Mitch O’Farrell proposed the idea, noting that Columbus’ real legacy is one of “extreme violence, enslavement, and brutality.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ O’Farrell, a member of the Wyandotte Nation tribe, also mentioned that Columbus’ legacy was one of “the suffering, destruction of cultures, and subjugation of Los Angeles’ original indigenous people, who were here thousands of years before anyone else.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ In school, children are told a story of Columbus setting sail in 1492 in an attempt to prove that the Earth is round. He is also described as the first man of Europe to discover the new world. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Despite the teachings, there are many holes in the story, leaving many of us a little skeptical about what Columbus' legacy really was.

Martin, Martin Luther King Jr., and Memes: Martin Luther King Jr. Statue Will Join Confederate Statues At Georgia's State Capital @balleralert Martin Luther King Jr. Statue Will Join Confederate Statues At Georgia's State Capital- blogged by @niksofly ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Georgia's Capitol have a plethora of its confederate soldier statues across its grounds. Confederate general and Ku Klux Klan leader John Brown Gordon and U.S. Sen. Richard Russell, an opponent to the civil rights legislation King wanted, sit as reminders to Georgia's oppressive and racist past (and possible present). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ MartinLutherKingJr. will have a statue in his honor that will sit alongside the very regime he advocated against. Member of Georgia Legislative Black Caucus Representative Calvin Myre stated, "The King statue will inspire and give hope to generations to come." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The unveiling was set before the Charlottesville terrorism, but had since been rescheduled due to the recent moves across states to take down confederate statues. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal (R) feels "this will be a symbol that the state of Georgia is in the business of erecting monuments to deserving individuals rather than focusing its attention on taking down monuments of the past."
