According to an interview with Refinery29, his stylist, Rachel Johnson stated, “He wanted to wear designers of color and or designers who were women. He wanted to give an opportunity for designers to be featured in the magazine who wouldn’t normally be, especially for a cover shoot of this magnitude.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The blazer that was worn on the cover was designed by Harlem-based store Harlem Haberdashery, which is owned by husband and wife Guy and Shay Wood. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Kaepernick also wore a custom “Even More Names” shirt based on his iconic albeit controversial “They Have Names” shirt from 2015. The shirt was designed by Kerby Jean-Raymond of menswear label Pyer Moss. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ His stylist continued, “It was amazing how it all came together. It feels surreal. I’m proud of how it's being received. I’m thrilled we were able to feature designers who would have never gotten this look before.”

America, Fresh, and John Legend: John Legend and Jesse Williams Teanm Up For 1968 Olympics Protest Documentary @balleralert John Legend and Jesse Williams Team Up For 1968 Olympics Protest Documentary – blogged by @MsJEnnyb ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Amid the recent controversy surrounding NFL players' rights to protest during the national anthem, JohnLegend and JesseWilliams are teaming up to highlight one of the most famous protests in sports – TommieSmith at the Games of the XIX Olympiad in Mexico City. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Legend and Williams, who have both been very vocal about racial injustices in America, will be joining forces to executive produce a documentary about Smith’s world-renowned protest for racial injustice and human rights during the national anthem. The documentary, titled “With Drawn Arms,” will focus on Smith’s strength and John Carlos’ courage to join in, despite the consequences. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ However, as the protests of the national anthem resurface in sports, both Legend and Williams believe Smith’s story deserves to be told. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “We are excited to collaborate with true artists in Glenn Kaino and Afshin Shahidi to bring this powerful story to the world in a fresh and compelling way,” Legend said. “In this current climate we are once again being charged to stand up to bigotry, fear, and hate. We are inspired by this story and honored to be a creative partner on this film.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “Tommie Smith is more than an iconic poster or risky act of defiance that inspires people the world over,” Williams said. “He is a living man, whose incredible journey is worthy of examination. I couldn’t be more excited to join forces with this team of film makers, to share his reality and challenge our notions of heroism in the process.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ According to Deadline, the film is expected to be released October of next year, for the 50th anniversary of the raised fist by the now-73-year-old Smith.

Anaconda, Bailey Jay, and Billboard: #BallerAlert's Today in Hip-Hop: Jay Z Released Vol. 2...Hard Knock Life' @balleralert VOL.2...HARD KNOCK UFE PARENTAL ADVISORY IPLICIT CONTENT BallerAlert's Today in Hip-Hop: Jay Z Released 'Vol. 2...Hard Knock Life'-blogged by @thereal__bee ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ 19 years ago today, rapper JayZ released his third studio album, 'Vol. 2... Hard Knock Life' on Roc-A-Fella Records and Def Jam Recordings. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ As of 2013, the album was said to be Jay Z's most commercially successful album. It was certified 5x Platinum by the RIAA in 2000 and has sold over 5 million copies in the United States. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ From the humble beginnings of his first album to 'Vol. 2... Hard Knock Life', fans experience an evolution of this iconic lyricist. While he still maintains his "street cred," by never forgetting where he comes from, he also allows us to see beneath the surface and get into his inner thoughts. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ There is also an obvious change in the sound. While the first two albums are for true "hip-hop heads", this album catered more to the mainstream, by sampling songs from other genres such as the musical "Annie" for the hit song, "Hard Knock Life". The critically acclaimed album was ranked number 46 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 greatest albums from the 1990s. It also was his first album to peak at 1 on the Billboard 200. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ The album even won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, but Jay Z refused to come as a form of boycotting. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ The New York native told MTV, "I am boycotting the Grammys because too many major rap artists continue to be overlooked. Rappers deserve more attention from the Grammy committee and from the whole world. If it's got a gun everybody knows about it; but if we go on a world tour, no one knows."
