10-Year-Old Girl Hangs Herself After Fight With Bully Posts On Musical.ly App -blogged by @peachkyss ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 10-year-old girl commits suicide after a fight with a bully was posted on a social media app. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ashawnty Davis, a fifth grader at Sunrise Elementary School in Aurora, Colo., got into her very first fight at school and other students stood around recording the altercation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ashawnty’s mother, Latoshia Harris, stated that the incident happened after her daughter confronted a student who had been bullying her. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Harris also stated, “I saw my daughter was scared. She was devastated when she found out that it had made it to Musical.ly.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After the video surfaced on the social media app, the fifth grader began to get bullied even more. Her mom states that it was “too much for her to handle.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Two weeks after the video surfaced online, Ashawnty hung herself in the closet. The 10-year-old spent two weeks in the hospital on life support. She passed away Wednesday morning. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The school district released a statement after the unfortunate incident. “We do not tolerate bullying of any kind in our schools and we have a comprehensive bullying prevention program in place at all of our schools. We were made aware of that video when a media outlet approached us with it.
