Some parents really donā€™t understand the difference between actual discipline and hurting your kids.

This teaches a kid nothing except needing to hide what makes them happy because theyā€™re scared their parents will destroy it.

I get the point on needing to be able to wake up by himself, but 1 - alarms donā€™t promote that either and 2 - heā€™s 9.If heā€™s sleeping in, especially at a younger age? Thereā€™s something wrong. Kids tend to wale up early, have high energy, etc. Heā€™s either unable to sleep at night due to the monotony of the day not taking up enough energy, or being in lockdown has been affecting his mental health, which will make him more tired, or maybe heā€™s feeling ill and sees no reason to mention it because it wonā€™t affect anything, or who knows what else. Donā€™t punish your kid for sleeping late, make sure theyā€™re okay and maybe, if they feel they need more sleep, add an extra hour on in the morning or something. Saying that if he doesnā€™t wake up on time there will be consequences, which will stress him out and stop him sleeping, maybe even motivating him to stay up all night instead of risking oversleeping. We donā€™t have control over when we wake up, and if heā€™s sleeping through alarms, something needs to change. well this isnā€™t necessarily a bad point. there are games with great stories and really awful shoehorned fighting sequences. then you also have handicapped/disabled gamers who donā€™t necessarily have the dexterity to finish a game but would still like to be able to.
optionalĀ ā€œcakewalkā€ modes arenā€™t that bad of an idea.

what if i want to just see the story of the game and dont want to actually play it? like??
as it is i would never pay for a bioshock game or a fallout game but i am very interested in the story. so i just watch youtube videos of it. they could get money from me if they sold the skip combat mode

iā€™m a games developer and an avid gamer and i really really think games should let you skip combat

honestly one of my favourite things about la noire was when you failed a sequence twice the game was like ā€œyo do you just wanna skip this bit?ā€the gaming industry/community has a huge problem with accessibility tbh. like, thank god for standardised control schemes (although bring back full customisation jfc  not enough games have that anymore) but fights require time, literacy in both that type of gaming & in the individual game, you need to be able to navigate the system which can be anywhere from slightly difficult to hellish for people with visual/audio processing disorders. and tbh sometimes you just wanna enjoy the story and not get stressed the hell out doing the sAME FIGHT 700 times. itā€™s why i always put a game on easy/casual when Iā€™m replaying unless  iā€™m specifically going for difficulty based achievements.not to mention SO MANY GAMES have either poorly designed battles or fights that have been shoved in for no reason other than to pad out the game (dxhr & da2 come to mind immediately) that sometimes itā€™d honestly improve the gameplay to just skip them altogether

Imagine if you were a gamer with arthritis or MS or some other disability that took away your ability to click buttons quickly, and every fight became as frustrating as THAT GODDAMN DA: ORIGINS OH FUCK Iā€™M ON FIRE SLIDE PUZZLE.Ā 
Yeah. Skipping combat might seem like a not bad idea then.

Mass Effect 3 has this:

And that experience should be more accessible.
Because SHOCKINGLY: games arenā€™t always about winning, or being good at it. Itā€™s about having fun. This is kindergarten education here.

Why the hell shouldnā€™t games let you skip combat if you want to? Why shouldnā€™t there be a super-duper-easy-peasy mode for everything? No-one is gonna force YOU to play it like that if you donā€™t want to! Continue to be as hardcore as you like!
I just donā€™t understand the resistance at all. What weā€™re talking about is simply having more options for gamers. Youā€™re adding something that would make games more accessible and fun for loads of new fans, and youā€™re not taking ANYTHING away from existing fans.
Likeā€¦do youā€¦not want more people to enjoy these games?? Do you really hate the idea of other people having fun so much that youā€™ll rile against it even when it literally has no effect on you or your experience whatsoever?? Are you honestly that selfish??

I am *horrifically* bad at gaming, but itā€™s a genre that Iā€™m intensely interested in and very desperately want to be more immersed in. I would HAPPILY buy so many more games if combat was a skippable option.Ā 

Not to mention one of the best indie games out right now is pretty much telling you if you want the best ending, donā€™t fight.



Yeah, I hate the elitist mentality that only those ~*~*hardcore*~*~ enough should be allowed to enjoy video games. I mean, gaming should be an experience to be had and not just an obstacle to clear, right?Then again, my poor mental health situation and chronic pain+mobility issues on my right hand means that my gaming options are severely limited nowadays. So Iā€™m all about making gaming accessible for everyone in the first place.Anyone who thinks gaming will be ruined by making it more accessible need to realize that they have already ruined gaming for many.

Iā€™ve had to stop playing certain games because all the button mashing aggravated my carpal tunnel pain, and I rage quit some because they had a super frustrating part that I could never get past. Games should be fun, not a test of endurance. At least, they should let you skip the difficult parts you are unable to do. They can still have a hardcore mode for people who enjoy a challenge. They would still get to brag about their accomplishments without preventing others from enjoying an otherwise fun game.



Unpopular opinion but just watch the game on youtube then? Why spend money when you donā€™t get the full experience?

Isnā€™t the whole point of AC to avoid fighting? Or did that change since Brotherhood? 


Syndicate is based on victorian era & thereā€™s gangsI literally had to hide because I keep walking to area higher than my current level because of main story line

Games should be fun, not a test of endurance. At least, they should let you skip the difficult parts you are unable to do. They can still have a hardcore mode for people who enjoy a challenge. They would still get to brag about their accomplishments without preventing others from enjoying an otherwise fun game.



Unpopular opinion but just watch the game on youtube then? Why spend money when you donā€™t get the full experience?

honestly one of my favourite things about la noire was when you failed a sequence twice the game was like ā€œyo do you just wanna skip this bit?ā€the gaming industry/community has a huge problem with accessibility tbh. like, thank god for standardised control schemes (although bring back full customisation jfc  not enough games have that anymore) but fights require time, literacy in both that type of gaming & in the individual game, you need to be able to navigate the system which can be anywhere from slightly difficult to hellish for people with visual/audio processing disorders. and tbh sometimes you just wanna enjoy the story and not get stressed the hell out doing the sAME FIGHT 700 times. itā€™s why i always put a game on easy/casual when Iā€™m replaying unless  iā€™m specifically going for difficulty based achievements.not to mention SO MANY GAMES have either poorly designed battles or fights that have been shoved in for no reason other than to pad out the game (dxhr & da2 come to mind immediately) that sometimes itā€™d honestly improve the gameplay to just skip them altogether

Imagine if you were a gamer with arthritis or MS or some other disability that took away your ability to click buttons quickly, and every fight became as frustrating as THAT GODDAMN DA: ORIGINS OH FUCK Iā€™M ON FIRE SLIDE PUZZLE.Ā

Iā€™ve had to stop playing certain games because all the button mashing aggravated my carpal tunnel pain, and I rage quit some because they had a super frustrating part that I could never get past. Games should be fun, not a test of endurance. At least, they should let you skip the difficult parts you are unable to do. They can still have a hardcore mode for people who enjoy a challenge. They would still get to brag about their accomplishments without preventing others from enjoying an otherwise fun game.

Am I the only one who thinks that hitting a kid and abuse are different things? Like, if I ever had a kid, I wouldnā€™t spank their ass raw or something like that. But a bop on the mouth or the ear pull or a smack upside the head? Yea. Those are behavior modifiers. 

Except theyā€™re not. 
The studies done by the trained psychologists in this joke show that little kids donā€™t associate being hit with the thing theyā€™ve done wrong. Very small children only understand consequences that are directly caused by the thing they did. Steal a biscuit, biscuit tastes good. Then for no reason mummy hit me. Very different to stole a biscuit, now no biscuit after dinner because I stole a biscuit.
And they also show that when a child is old enough to understand why they are being hit that non-physical punishment is equally as effective and less mentally harmful in the long run. 
Do you know who benefits the most from hitting as a punishment? The parent. It gives a satisfaction rush. Parents do it because it makes them feel good. 
Basically kids have two stages: too young to understand why they are being hit so physical punishment is useless for anything other than teaching a child that bigger stronger people can hit you whenever they like (Which sounds like the same lesson you would learn from abuse)
And the second stage is old enough to be reasoned with so many punishment options are available and you chose physical violence because it makes *you* feel better, which is an abusive action.

 I once approached a teenage girl (around 14 years
 old) by asking her for directions at first. Then I proceeded
 to ask for her name. She became afraid and started
 walking away. I followed her, and then she went from
 walking briskly to running. Her gait was peculiar, because
 she ran like a newborn fawn, turning around every so
 often, trying to see if I am still following.
 (Now, I want to make clear that I absolutely abhor rape
 and did not have any intention in that direction, not
 molestation not any of that.)

 anything.
 But the feeling when you follow a girl and she notices
 you, and she tries to loose you or picks up the pace. That
 is kind of a good feeling. You become important to her.

 I know it is kind of low-level behaviour. But I do enjoy
 doing that. I go to another city, look for a girl that is
 walking by herself and start following her. After a while
 they notice you. After dark, after sunset it may suffice to
 just walk in the same general direction as a girl that is
 valking in front of you. They become paranoid.
 I recommend you lonely incels try it some time. Just to
 make her afraid. If you know your limits and don't actually
 harass -let alone rape- that girl, it should be harmless
 psychological fun.

Something I remember from my Criminal Law classes is that, quite genuinely, looking at someone (occasionally even pointedly not doing so) can constitute assault.
It seems absurd, looking at someone? Whereā€™s the harm, right?
Well, it turns out itā€™s so that the law has recourse against people who just stand in a public space and start through someoneā€™s living room window. For weeks.
Just randomly chasing somebody, even without intent to actually harm, is legally assault. Itā€™s not harmless, itā€™s months or even years of therapy and paranoia against ever going outside your home, if you even think your home is still safe.
