Published in the International Journal of Medicinal Mushrooms, Halliday explains that he and his colleague Soule heard of an unusual fungi growing in recent lava flows on the island of Hawaii – a bright orange mushroom which supposedly caused women to suddenly reach climax for no apparent reason. Intrigued by the concept, the pair headed to the island to see if these fantastical claims are true. For science, of course. Forming on lava flows 600–1000 years old, the unnamed Dictyophora species was deemed a very intense aphrodisiac when smelled by women – despite, or maybe because, of its “fetid” smell. The pair put the claim to the test by asking volunteers (I wonder how they whittled the number of applicants down?) to take a deep whiff, and recording their arousal levels. The results recorded in the Journal show a significant increase in arousal, with nearly half of the women experiencing spontaneous orgasms. All of the men, on the other hand, claimed it smelled absolutely disgusting. As a Michigan native, the G.O.O.D. Music artist is especially involved in helping the citizens of Flint, who have had to endure contaminated drinking water since around April 2014. BigSean tells Trevor Noah of The Daily Show that he’s raised about $100,000 through his foundation for the people of Flint. “I just know it’s not even close to being over. In that situation, I feel like, it’s not a natural disaster,” Big Sean says. “It’s something that should’ve been prevented and could’ve been prevented, so it’s just disgusting to think about the damages that these families and even kids have to go through with the lead poisoning.” Sean also explains that his own mother obtained a degree of lead poisoning due to the contaminated water. “It was very hard for her to deal with, but she was able, through holistic care and homeopathic remedies, was able to reverse a lot of the effects of lead poisoning,” Sean says. The 28-year-old MC also reveals that he’s featuring the Flint Chosen Choir on the song “Bigger Than Me,” which is the last track on the new album. Big Sean tells Trevor Noah, “Once you hear it, you’ll see why I wanted them to be on [‘Bigger Than Me’].
