Children, Driving, and Parents: MOM IS SHOCKED WHEN THIS NAKED WOMAN WAVED AT HER THREE YOUNG CHILDREN. BUT HER SON'S REPLY IS HYSTERICAL 1) NUDITY My kids have always been observant of their surroundings, but they tend to pick out details no one else would notice. I was driving with my three young children one warm summer evening when a woman in the convertible ahead of us stood up and waved. She was stark naked! As I was reeling from the shock, I heard my 5-year-old shout from the back seat, "Mom! That lady isn't wearing a seat belt!" 2) OPINIONS On the first day of school, a first-grader handed his teacher a note from his mother. The note read, "The opinions expressed by this child are not necessarily those of his parents." 3) KETCHUP A woman was trying hard to get the ketchup out of the jar. During her struggle the phone rang so she asked her 4-year-old daughter to answer the phone. "Mommy can't come to the phone to talk to you right now. She's hitting the bottle." 4) MORE NUDITY A little boy got lost at the YMCA and found himself in the women's locker room. When he was spotted, the room burst into shrieks, with ladies grabbing towels and running for cover. The little boy watched in amazement and then asked, "What's the matter, haven't you ever seen a little boy before?"
Mom Is Shocked When This Naked Woman Waved At Her Three Young Children. Being Alone, Facts, and Life: WHY IS DENMARK THE HAPPIEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD? FREE CHILD CARE FREE HEALTHCARE FREE UNIVERSITY $20 MINIMUM WAGE 33 HOUR WORKWEEK
tomfromdenver:

gop-tea-pub:

1) Free Child Care: FALSE

“You must pay for child care.” That statement is plainly found on the Child Care page at http://workindenmark.dk/ Furthermore, it points out that child care for workers is handled and set up by municipalities, in other words, not at the national level. They do have national legislation mandating no more than 25% - 28% coming from the working parents’ own pockets, but other than that, it’s left up to cities how to accomplish the task. It can be in private homes or in city-built institutions. Either way, it’s not nearly so cut-and-dried as “free child care” from the government.

2) Free healthcare: MISLEADING

Denmark does have a public health system, but it’s not absolutely free (even if you discount taxation). There are still fee-for-service procedures, and things like prescriptions are not necessarily provided free-of-charge, let alone over-the-counter items. Even on the state health insurance system, people still have to pay out of pocket for things. Additionally, the health system, like child care, is managed and taxed at the regional and municipal levels, rather than the national level.

It’s also worth noting that Denmark spends only 11.2% of its GDP on healthcare, while in the U.S., we spend 17.9% of GDP. In other words, even though Denmark has a public health system, it is run in such a way that there is less national involvement, and is more efficient, both in pure dollars and as a percentage of GDP. In other words, it’s not necessarily a larger government causing the better outcome, but more a more efficient system based more on local and regional needs.

3) Free University: TRUE-ish

Denmark does provide free university tuition to its citizens (as well as EU citizens and several other types of people), and tuition costs are fairly regulated by the government. Some things to consider about Denmark, however, are that compulsory schooling only goes to age 15/16 and that one does not HAVE to take the government-funded choices in university education. Furthermore, Denmark only outperforms the U.S. in a handful of areas according to the OECD factsheet for citizens with specific levels of education. Is the trade-off worth it? Well, choosing between the two systems, Denmark still comes out as more economically free than the US (10 vs 12), so probably.

4) $20 Minimum Wage: FALSE

This one is actually a flat-out lie. Denmark has no government-mandated minimum wage at all. Period. They do have (as in a free market) relatively free association with unions and employer associations though, of which about 75% of the population chooses to use. They also have a much more lax hiring/firing process than the U.S., resulting in around 25% of the working population changing jobs annually. The entire labour market is much more free market than in the U.S., resulting in a higher effective minimum wage of $20 per hour, but again, this is NOT set in law and is a result of the market itself. Denmark’s minimum wage, according to the definition U.S. citizens use, is $0.

They DO have a more comprehensive “safety net” system for the unemployed, however. Again, we find this taking a smaller chunk of the government’s spending than the U.S., and being much more competently managed.

5) 33 Hour Workweek: MISLEADING

Again, the meme tries to insinuate that this is a result of government regulation. It is not. This is merely the average length of the work week. There is no government-mandated work week, and as shown in the fourth point, the overall approach to labour (minus the safety net) is much more free-market-like than the same system in the U.S.

Conclusion:

While Denmark does provide some services from the government that the U.S. does not, their systems are generally run through the municipal and regional (equivalent to our local and state) governments, rather than at the nation (our federal) level. In other words, they recognize the benefit of decentralization, even in government, where many proponents of similar government services in the U.S. do not. As a result, they manage to beat the U.S. in overall economic freedom. So while there are some true points in the graphic, it is entirely misleading when liberals attempt to apply this to the U.S.

One last thing to consider: Denmark is roughly the size of New Hampshire and Vermont combined in area (discounting Greenland, which is largely unpopulated compared to its square mileage), and has roughly the population of Wisconsin. This is divided into 5 administrative regions, then further into cities. So while we make comparisons to the federal/state/local levels in the above writing, it’s worth noting that on sheer scale, it’s more proper to equate state/county/municipal for the U.S.

In other words, Denmark’s government is much more efficient, and it utilizes the equivalents of our county and municipal governments far more for the things that American leftists want under Federal control. Additionally, many of the benefits touted in the graphic are actually a result of more free-market-like policies. Overall, the leftist pining after Denmark as an example of a larger state working better is a pipe dream that simply doesn’t stand up to the facts.

-Martin-

Citations:
1) https://www.workindenmark.dk/…/I…/Life_in_Denmark/Child_care
2a) https://www.workindenmark.dk/…/Health_…/Purchasing_medicines
2b) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_care_in_Denmark
2c) http://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SH.XPD.TOTL.ZS
3a) http://gpseducation.oecd.org/CountryProfile…
3b) http://www.oecd-ilibrary.org/…/factboo…/10/01/06/index.html…
3c) http://www.heritage.org/index/ranking
4a) http://denmark.usembassy.gov/living-in-denmark.html
4b) http://denmark.dk/en/society/welfare/flexicurity/
5) http://denmark.dk/en/society/welfare/flexicurity/

So well documented, I have to repost!

some true points in the graphic, it is entirely misleading when liberals
attempt to apply this to the U.S.

One last thing to consider:
Denmark is roughly the size of New Hampshire and Vermont combined in
area (discounting Greenland, which is largely unpopulated compared to
its square mileage), and has roughly the population of Wisconsin. This
is divided into 5 administrative regions, then further into cities. So
while we make comparisons to the federal/state/local levels in the above
writing, it’s worth noting that on sheer scale, it’s more proper to
equate state/county/municipal for the U.S.

In other words,
Denmark’s government is much more efficient, and it utilizes the
equivalents of our county and municipal governments far more for the
things that American leftists want under Federal control. Additionally,
many of the benefits touted in the graphic are actually a result of more
free-market-like policies. Overall, the leftist pining after Denmark as
an example of a larger state working better is a pipe dream that simply
doesn’t stand up to the facts.

You know men also get told to smile right? Is that really what you define as oppression? The fuck is wrong with you people?

I think they just need to smile.

:X I find this funny. Feminist like to complain and wallow in their self-made misery so ofc they reject the idea of smiling…

-Billy

It’s not self-made. Yeah, it happens to men too, but why does that make it less of a problem? It’s rude to tell people to just smile because you want them to. And it happens to women a lot, especially through creepy perverts that think its anything but harassment to tell a woman to show them “that sexy smile”. Or something along those lines.

Nowhere in the post did someone say this was oppression, but it seemed whoever was against it was quick to say that these people were calling it that. It’s just rude an obnoxious, don’t tell people to smile. You really don’t know why they’re not smiling and they don’t owe you a smile in the first place.

Why do people bitch about giving other people common courtesy?

Why do you assume this post is about street harassment? Am I the only one who sees “Hey, smile” as a way to try and cheer someone up? Isn’t it proven that smiling can make you feel better? Lol it’s rude to try and make people feel better now…? Cause nowhere in this post did I see anything about street harassment {Which feminists honestly exaggerate the ever living fuck out of, acting like being called pretty by a stranger is like murdering their damn dog in front of them..I digress.} until you brought it up.

It’s rude and obnoxious to try and get someone to pull themselves out of their funky mood just because you don’t know what’s going on in their life. Cause “you arn’t owed that smile” Trying to spread a little, tiny ass snipit of joy in someone’s life {and if they’re all mopey they probably need it} is a bad thing. Yeah, I call that self-made misery all right cause I damn sure don’t know what else you would call “looking for reasons to be pissy, miserable, and offended over the wind blowing”…

You back me up by jumping to the worst case scenario over something as trivial as trying to cheer someone up. Soo…yeah, self made. By the by, street harassment is more than just a stranger talking to you on the street….just to clarify.

-Billy

I never once said street harassment, I said people use those terms to harass others. It’s not always as innocent as trying to cheer someone up. And in case you haven’t noticed, street harassment doesn’t mean a stranger called you pretty. Its something that occurs when commentary becomes crude and invasive and doesn’t cease when a person is made uncomfortable. Not everyone really cares for unsolicited comments on their appearance, and if they ask for someone to stop, that needs to be respected, not challenged.

Also telling someone to smile 1) does nothing to correct the problem. A smile can may you feel better temporarily in some cases, but at most the joy will end quickly, at worst the person may just feel annoyed that someone’s pestering them when they’re clearly not in a good mood. 2) isnt a good idea to do when you dont know the situation. If someone had just gone through a serious loss or devestation, I’m pretty sure the last thing they want right now is some stranger telling them to smile or cheer up. Though in a less extreme situation, its still naive to think that simply smiling is going to make someone feel better anyways. Its proven that smiling can help somewhat, but its not going to help if that person feels pressured to do so.

I never said trying to cheer someone up is a bad thing, but just telling someone to smile is not really helpful in any lasting way, can feel very pressuring, and its really a rather empty gesture. Frequently people say this sort of thing, not necessarily to help, but because other people being sad makes them uncomfortable. It’s all circumstantial, and i know full well that telling someone to smile isn’t always done in a harassing, probing, or selfish way, but it isn’t always for good reason either.
Jesus fucking christ, is this supposed to be feminism?

If people had heard this line used in those negative ways frequently enough, it’s perfectly understandable that they don’t want to keep hearing it.

America, Animals, and Children: conservativewoman 25 delete edit I honestly dont mean this as hate, i mean this is the most respectful way possible. I really don't understand you, you are a woman, and yet you support the man who would take away abortion rights, funding for planned parenthood etc? why would you let someone just take away your rights? economically Romney has some okay policy ideas, but how can you not think about all of the people he would be harming or just doesn't care about? gays immigrants women. and again, i mean to be most respectful. forgettingmymind
mezzoalex:

conservativewoman:

*I was asked to make this rebloggable…

Well, you don’t know me as a person very well because I am Pro-Life, and I believe that Planned Parenthood should be privately funded, not federal funded like every other business in this nation. So I agree with Mitt Romney on his Pro-Life stance, as a woman’s right is whether or not she wishes to engage in sex, not to terminate the human life she created exercising her right. I also agree with him that Planned Parenthood should no longer receive tax dollars, and instead rely on donations and competition in the free market.

However, Mitt Romney cannot ban abortion by himself. He does have the power to appoint a Supreme Court Justice, but there is an entire system called “checks and balances” in the government. The President is not a dictator, no matter how much President Obama wishes it were. He doesn’t have almighty power; that’s why we have the House of Representatives and the Senate as well as the Supreme Court. If Mitt Romney led a campaign to end abortion, I’d be all for it. But he’d have a whole lot of work in front of him to achieve that, and it’s glaringly clear that the economy and getting people back to work is Romney and Ryan’s #1 priority along with foreign policy to keep America safe.

Furthermore, America’s economy is on the brink of collapse. A broken economy affects every single, solitary American, not just women or immigrants or gays. I know there are women out there who want abortion. I know there are gays out there who want marriage. I know there are immigrants out there who want to become citizens. But there are the majority in this country that include men, women, straights, gays, legal immigrants, blacks, whites, Hispanics, people of every walk of life who want a better life. If they cannot get jobs, if they cannot provide for themselves, the other social issues matter very little.

There was a gay man who once said that he would love to be able to get married. (For the record, I am pro-gay civil unions.) But he would rather have a job to go to to provide a home and a hearth for his partner and their children rather than living on the street with nothing but a ring on his finger.

On the subject of Planned Parenthood, they will be fine in the private market, just like Sesame Street. If people want it around, they will keep it around. That’s how businesses work. But taxpayers should not be responsible for funding it, especially as doing so violates religious freedoms from Catholics, Christians, Jews, etc. who don’t support abortion. (Not to mention, many religions disapprove of contraception considering sex should be kept within marriage where the two people should be prepared for children anyway.) Mitt Romney does not want to ban Planned Parenthood; he just doesn’t think the government should be spending taxpayer money on it when we’re $16 trillion dollars in debt and counting.

Honestly, I am very confused when people say that Mitt Romney wants to “take away my rights” as a woman. What right does a woman not have in this country? For that matter, other than civil unions, what rights do gays not have in this country?

Both women and gays are free to vote, to speak freely, to drive, to work, to get an education, to hold hands with the ones we love, to practice the religion of our choice, to come and go as we please, to show our faces in public, to spend our money on whatever legal thing we wish, to be free. In other parts of the world like the Middle East, women are denied those kinds of rights, and if they violate any of those rules, they will be punished from physical mutilation to a bullet in the brain. In those parts of the world, gays are beheaded for being who they are.

Those are real rights. Those are real rights being taken away, being persecuted, being wronged. Paying for your own birth control, donating to a company you believe in yourself, and all of those social issues are merely encouraging this nation to be one of fiscal responsibility and accountability. Asking women to pay for themselves is not oppression; cutting off a woman’s nose for leaving the house without a male relative is oppression.

I am voting for Mitt Romney because I am worried about my future and this country’s future; not as merely a woman, but as an American. It’s funny because Governor Romney has been falsely accused of being sexist when it’s been the President’s campaign who has pandered to the female vote using expressions like “vote like your lady parts depend on it,” and putting out ads that compare voting like losing your virginity. All of the focus for women from the Obama campaign has all been sexual even though women’s unemployment is 11%, and there are more women living in poverty than there ever has been in our nation’s history. Not only that, President Obama’s own female staff makes 18% less than his male staff.

Governor Romney has been falsely accused of being homophobic when he says that while he believes marriage is between a man and a woman, gay marriage is a state issue, and should the people of the state vote in favor, so be it. He’s also fought his career against discrimination based on race and sexuality, while also showing favor to civil unions. Meanwhile, President Obama has flip flopped on this issue numerous times. While he made his pro-gay marriage stance public this May right before the campaign started for this election, just last week during his MTV interview, he said he would not be focusing on gay marriage in his second term, and said that it was a state issue. This is the exact same position Mitt Romney has, and yet, Governor Romney is the one being called a homophobe.

Furthermore, President Obama has run this country’s economy into the ground, supports the Muslim Brotherhood who treat women and gays worse than animals, denied the ambassador of Libya and his embassy relief during a terrorist attack they knew about well in advance, and, among other things, signed the NDAA, which allows the President to arrest and detain an American citizen without cause or due process. This is not the kind of America our Founding Fathers envisioned, and it certainly isn’t the kind of America in which I want to live. And those are the pressing issues that affect every single American, no matter what their demographic.

I understand that people have their priorities. Your priorities are clearly not my priorities. But I do resent when people (not necessarily you specifically) insist that I “should” vote for Obama simply because I am a woman. Women won the right to vote on August 18, 1920 with the ratification of the 19th Amendment. So I see this constant “You are a woman, therefore, you should vote for Obama” insistence as a threat to my right as an American. I have the right to vote however I choose. Same as any gay or black or Hispanic individual. Because we are more than just our genitalia or our sexuality or our skin color — we are Americans who want this country to thrive economically again, to be respected around the world again, to protect our own.

I understand that your message wasn’t meant to hate or to be disrespectful. I welcome questions. I welcome discussion. I appreciate when people legitimately want to learn my side. That is what being open-minded means. It’s about learning both sides and how they feel and think, and what matters to them. Just because I don’t agree with the other side, just because I don’t bend my own values or morals or beliefs or views to surrender to the other side doesn’t mean I am closed-minded. Because I try and educate myself. I try to listen and understand. I don’t stand for hate or threats or any of the horrible crap I’ve received through Anonymous on this site. But I welcome messages like yours; ones that simply just want to know where I stand.

I hope I’ve given you a little insight to why I’m voting for Governor Romney next Tuesday, and I hope you understand a little bit better. :) God bless.

“we are more than just our genitalia or our sexuality or our skin color —”

I honestly dont mean this as hate, i mean this is the most
respectful way possible. I really don't understand you, you
are a woman, and yet you support the man who would take
away abortion rights, funding for planned parenthood etc?
why would you let someone just take away your rights?
economically Romney has some okay policy ideas, but how
can you not think about all of the people he would be harming
or just doesn't care about? gays immigrants women. and
again, i mean to be most respectful.

(Not to mention, many religions disapprove of contraception considering sex should be kept within marriage where the two people should be prepared for children anyway.)
