The brilliant thing about this isn’t just the CGI, it’s the clever little touches of humor– mussing the boy’s hair, saving the goldfish, drinking the soda can, the moonwalk, lining up the dart with the dartboard. I notice new details every time I see this clip. You can watch this scene with zero context and still fully enjoy it. You don’t need to know who he is or who he’s saving or why. There’s a guy who runs real fast and he’s saving people from an explosion, and he’s having a blast with it, and that’s all you need to know. It’s entertaining and fully comprehensible even if you know nothing about the movie. That’s damn good filmmaking.

I just,,,, the fact that it’s fast until he shows up, then it slows down, then speeds up as soon as he leaves? And the fact that nothing actually stops moving, you can see everything still going on around him, rather than being so slow any movement is imperceptible so it just kind of looks like he’s frozen time or whatever? The fact that it shows how he can manipulate physics and stuff when he’s going so fast, like using floorboards that are being blown apart as stepping stones to a girl in the stairs? I actually did this for math finals

For my English essay we were allowed a sheet of notes so I literally spent a week developing THE perfect essay and then summarising each paragraph into one line of shorthand in tiny writing 100%, A*

in US Government last year our teacher said we could have one notecard to use as a cheat sheet and gave us a whole packet (meaning like 10 pages) of things that would be on our test. he said, and i quote, “there is no way to fit everything youre going to need on there so you better study” i fit every last piece of info on that card and didnt study at alli got an a
moral of the story: dont tell me what i can and cannot do

before my midterm in Modern Physics, my teacher told us a story about how one kid kept switching glasses during an exam. he walked over and the kid had red glasses and blue glasses and kept switching between them because he wrote his notecard in red and blue ink. he made a 3d note card.

y’all do realize, that with the intense effort it takes to plan and create these sheets, that you’re studying, right? you’re totally studying. love, a TA.


The best way to study even if you can’t bring a cheat sheet is to make a cheat sheet and write everything you would write on one if you could have one. It’s an awesome method!

 Never has a man influenced physics so profoundly as Niels Bohr in the early 1900's.
 Going back to this time period, little was known about atomic structure; Bohr set out
 to end the obscurity of physics. However,things didn't come easy for Bohr. He had to
 give up most of his life for physics and research of many hypothesis. But, this is why
 you and I have even heard of the quantum theory and atomic structures. Bohr came
 up with his quantum theory while studying at Cambridge. Bohr was a skeptic and he
 never truly believed in Max Planck's old quantum theory. He put forth the idea that,
 going from one high-energy orbit o a lower one, an electron could, in fact, be trying
 to emit a quantum of discrete energy. Bohr was criticized for this idea, but he didn't
 let up. Soon after, Bohr said his famed quote, " If quantum mechanics hasn't shocked
 you, you haven't understood it yet." This quote is extremely famous and has gone
 down as the motto for quantum physicist around the world. Understandably, Bohr
 never won a Nobel prize outside of physics (of which he only won one). Bohr's still
 going strong with his theories on atomic structure; he allowed for 100's of scientists
 to fully experiment with the cell and its many components. Bohr was largely on the
 run from the Nazi's when he came up with this discovery, which is amazing because
 around this time, Bohr's home country of Denmark was invaded by the Nazi's. Bohr
 and Ernest Rutherford are given credit, but it is believed that Rutherford decided to
 desert Bohr in the middle of their work. Rutherford once, quite famously said that
 you should never bet against the wonders of science. Niels Bohr's famous career
 never really kicked off until he was forty years old. Most other major scientists were
 going all over the world with their ideas by their early twenties. However, in order
 to preserve the legacy of Niels Bohr, he has his own institution, whose goal is to
 make many more great strides in the field of physics for years. How did Bohr affect
 you and me? Without Niels Bohrs' more advanced atomic theory, we might as well
 cry over how little we know of the atoms and their compounds. Physics would have
 never been such a force in the todays society. However, to this day, research is still
 going on to improve and update the atomic theory. Although scientists clearly want
 to improve on Bohr's theory, many famous physicists come out publicly and openly
 say that Bohr's ideas will never be improved upon, todays society cannot say
 goodbye to an opportunity to improve our understanding of the sciences. If Bohr
 never had silenced his critics, we would still be following Planck's theories, and
 going on incomplete information. Bohr's later life was all occupied when he decided
 to go back to Denmark and head the Royal Danish Academy. His main goal was to
 tell the world of the of the greatness of the Danish Sciences and most likely educate
 a new crop of scientists for years to come. There is controversy surrounding Bohr's
 lie during his stint in the Manhattan project. Though he claimed to be anti-violence
 and a peace-seeker, Bohr engineered on the Manhattan Project. Though he didn't

 granddaughter, but I still think it counts.
 I had read about the marshmallow test. You give a child
 a marshmallow, and then say that if she (Layla, in this
 case) could keep from eating it for 10 minutes, you'll
 give her a second. So I tried that test with my
 granddaughter (not with marshmallows, but with
 chocolate, which she likes much more)
 According to extensive experiments, children who
 "pass" the "marshmallow test" are far more successful
 in later life. They have learned a fundamental truth in
 life, that delayed gratification can lead to a far better
 long-term outcome.
 She sat and watched the chocolate. The 10-minute
 hourglass finally emptied, and she had succeeded. She
 asked for her second piece of chocolate. I gave it to her,
 and she now had two in her hand. That's when she
 looked up at me and asked, "Would you like one,
 Grandpa?"
 Needless to say, from that moment on I would readily
 give my life for her.

btw the marshmallow test has been linked to class - kids from wealthier families are essentially more likely to trust that they will actually get the marshmallow if they wait whereas poorer kids are generally more used to like, if you have food, eat it. and being wealthier correlates to being more successful later in life because our system is broken. so THAT’s probably why the marshmallow test is a predictor - because it tells you who is wealthy, not who is innately primed to be successful

 I've just gotten out of uni. Graduated this
 year. I'm originally from Scotland so moved
 down for a grad job.

 Ithink about 7/8 weeks
 Sweet. I've been here for about 3 months
 now. How you finding it so far?
 Ahhh nice! Not too bad
 So where abouts in Canada are you from?
 Vancouver
 Been to America but never Canada. Would
 love to go some time. What did you get up
 to over there?
 Lots of sports, hanging with my dog and
 getting outside

 basketball. Was great to see the Toronto
 raptors wining it
