Charlie, Community, and Lawyer: Jackpot Lottery Winner of $559 Million Files To Keep Her ldentity Anonymous, Despite State Law @balleralert PONER Jackpot Lottery Winner of $559 Million Files To Keep Her Identity Anonymous, Despite State Law- Blogged by: @RaquelHarrisTV ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you won $559 million, you probably wouldn’t want anyone to know. Well, that’s what the newest Powerball winner is suing to do. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Last week, the winner of the Powerball jackpot filed a complaint looking to keep her identity anonymous regardless of the state law that requires every winner to have their names in public records. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ When it comes to New Hampshire’s public records, winners must release their name, the area they live in and the amount they won. However, according to a lawyer the woman reached out to, she may be able to receive the prize as a trust, which would allow her to get out of having to expose her information. The only issue with that is she’s already signed the back of the ticket which prohibits her from claiming the lottery money as a trust. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The woman who is a community leader in New Hampshire would like to stay where she currently lives but feels she won’t be able to if people find out she has so much money. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ "While we respect this player's desire to remain anonymous, state statutes and lottery rules clearly dictate protocols," New Hampshire Lottery Executive Director Charlie McIntyre said in a statement. This is the eighth largest lottery prize in U.S. history.
