Try this simple progression & see if it helps👇🏼 . 1️⃣foam roll the quads for 2 minutes (searching out stiff spots in the muscle). You want to be a mean massage therapist to yourself so don't stray away from spots that hurt a bit! This will help improve your soft tissue pliability without any decreases in performance✅ 2️⃣lightly stretch the quads. The couch stretch is a great way to do this. A 30 second stretch will decrease stiffness in the muscles without a decrease in power production for your workout✅ 3️⃣mobilize into a position you'll then be using in your workout. I love the goblet squat stretch. Take a kettle bell or a plate & sit into a deep squat (shoes off or flat sole shoe is preferred). Hold this for 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Then re-rest your squat and see how it feels🏋🏽 . If your 'cracking' continues, is accompanied with pain, I recommend getting screened by a sports physical therapist as this may be an issue that requires a more individual approach to fixing . Fear dictates our choices and actions all through life, and we don’t even realize it. We create scenarios in our minds, and then we feed off them. Fear is a reaction to a perceived threat—imagined or real.Perceived threat. Meaning often times, the threat is not even real. It may be a threat, or it may not be. Often we create the threat. We create the scenario that feeds the fear. We let it control us, and the imagined scenarios we draw up in our minds never actually take place. It never happens. We let fear control us and keep us trapped. It prevents us from taking part in things we would really like to do, and we make up excuses and lies in our mind about how we aren’t interested in said activity anyway—so why bother doing it? We tell ourselves,“Nah that’s not for me,” and we don’t even try. When we don’t understand something, we judge it. The fear comes when we allow the non-understanding of something to threaten us. The power step here is admitting that it is not the outside thing that is actually the threat—it is our mind creating the threat. Is the threat real or imagined? Is it based off of someone else’s information? Have I explored it myself? Because we are too ensnared in our comfort zones to push outside of them, we stay in them—comfy and warm, living safe little lives that are more of just an existence. We live there in the illusion of safety and security, pretending we have a grip. I’m not saying there isn’t joy and happiness to be found in comfort zones—there is—but there is no greatness. There is no magic, and that’s what we find outside the comfort zone and outside the fear. Mastering our fears is about taking our power back. It’s about taking control and charge of our own lives. It’s about not allowing perceived or actual threats to rule our lives. It’s about facing things we don’t understand, or feel threatened by, and challenging ourselves to remain open long enough to examine our fear. It allows us to determine if there really is a threat or if the threat is perceived. It lets us form our own beliefs and rewrite them as they no longer serve us. When I used to think all problems could be solved by a gun or a knife. When I used to want to kill my dad for raping my mum and abusing me. When I used to eat murdered animals... When I used to think women were objects, when I used to think that learning my history was "Too deep" Just before I was in the Army, when I was 15, I was was selling crack and heroin on the block, these times I thought that life had no meaning just sex, money and power... When I used to think that crying was weak so I didn't cry for 12 years... When I used to be scared of having children 👶🏾 When I used to sex any women, from any background as long as they were aesthetically pleasing. When I used to respect people just because they had money. When I experienced massive racism, so I learned how to box and beat up any Europeans who were racist to me. (Now I can just beat them verbally) When I never used to tell anyone how I really feel. When I used to eat junk food, I actually stopped drinking at 17 and didn't drink since. When I was lonely... When I thought I was going die everyday, when I nearly got blown up on my 20th birthday in Iraq. When I thought being a celebrity was a good idea. When I was self destructive. When I was going to kill myself... When I used to drive cars too fast, when I thought that "Making it" in the USA was the highest human achievement. When I was depressed. When I did nothing for my people or culture, when I was a coward. When I saw my friend get murdered in front of me by the park where we used to do callisthenics... Then I changed, I've been working on myself ever since. I am humble enough to never forget where I came from, & know that I don't know that much and honest enough to tell you openly about my life each and every step of the way.
