Memes, Porsche, and Cayman: HH NEWS S GO 1203 Porsche Dealer Apparently Confirms Incoming Cayman GT4 RS 4.0 Via @carthrottlenews - Porsche is not a company known for being fond of ‘accidental’ product leaks, but its dealer in Brisbane, Australia, has apparently done just that. Or has it? - Over the weekend the dealer posted an Instagram photo of the regular GT4, along with the words: - “Attention GT4 aficionados - “Due to high demand, a GT4 RS is on its way – with more power and a 4.0L flat-six engine, this limited model will turn heads.” - Obviously this did rather catch the car world’s attention, and the fact that the post has now been deleted suggests that someone at that end of things either realised their mistake on their own or picked up the phone to find someone from Stuttgart shouting very loud German profanities. - This is also the sort of time, a month or so before the Geneva show, that dealers might start being informed about what new product was coming, to give them time to gen-up on the new model before customers start calling. - On the other hand, with the Cayman having moved to downsized, turbocharged engines that have come in for a lot of abuse, would Porsche really issue a reminder of just how awesome the Cayman always was with a flat-six? Such a move could potentially be counter-productive for its common-or-garden Cayman models. - Either way, we’re keeping our eyes peeled for more on this, but we suspect that with Stuttgart watching like a hawk there will be no more to tell you until Geneva.

Memes, Pop, and Porsche: HH NEWS ORE HER Electronic Arts' exclusive Porsche deal is set to end this year, opening the door for the brand to appear in other racing series such as Gran Turismo Via @carthrottlenews - The absence of the Porsche brand in some of the world’s major racing titles has to be one of the biggest annoyances in modern gaming. - The issue stems from an exclusive deal between EA Games and Porsche, which has meant that - other than the odd Forza DLC pack - the brand’s car’s have been stuck in the rather unrealistic world of Need for Speed. Not ideal, given that the company has a habit of building the world’s best sports cars. Happily though, it looks like this deal is finally going to end. - Various Porsches made a very welcome appearance in sim racer Assetto Corsa (above) this year, and when speaking to Porsche Branded Entertainment Manager Sebastian Hornung, German site Speed Maniacs wanted to find out how that was possible (translation by GT Planet): - “According to Sebastian they were also always following what was going on in the gaming industry aside from EA. The license with EA runs out this year, because together they arrived at the realisation that the current situation was not desirable anymore.” - Assetto Corsa’s relationship with the car company has been further strengthened by the use of the ‘Pro’ version of the game in various Porsche Experience centres, but we will be seeing the brand popping up in many more franchises. A few of Stuttgart’s sports cars will be appearing in the next Project Cars instalment, and should be arriving in Forza Horizon 3. Will there be Porsches in Gran Turismo Sport? It certainly seems likely. - 2017 should be an exciting year for racing games…
