That phraseĀ ā€œwhatā€™s her damageā€ is what really scares me here
IE he thinks heā€™s gotta damage her to make her Batgirl because he has literally zero concept of who Barbara Gordon is as a person
IE weā€™re probably gonna have to see Babs put through some act of extreme violence (oh god please donā€™t let it be sexual violence PLEASE) to traumatize her into becoming Batgirl
Seriously what is wrong with her dressing like Batman for a party just to piss off her dad and winding up stopping a coupla supervillains and deciding to keep doing it because this shitā€™s awesome and no, Batman, you donā€™t get to tell her to stop, you donā€™t get to tell her ANYTHING because sheā€™s not your sidekick

She admired her dad who was a cop and she wanted to be a hero like him.

In Joss Whedon world, no hero can justā€¦be a hero because they want to help peopleEvery hero has to have some Dark Terrible Thing driving them to be a hero or forcing them to be a hero because Joss Whedon is so cynical he canā€™t imagine human beings just wanting to be GOOD to each other

Sure, you canā€™t be a hero just because youā€™re a good person who wants to fight crime like her father whom she admires so much. Nooo. Definitely not. Their research led them to suggest that ponds in the Terrebonne and Barataria basins are unstable, where 80 percent of ponds are expanding.
